Days 13 and 14 - north of Figeac to Castres

Two contrasting days, the first 75 miles, three of us, fast and furious, without panniers. The second only 40 miles, back with panniers and just the two of us again. A bit of a slog today.

Both days stunning though, cycling across the Lot and Tarn valleys, gorges, fortified hilltop towns, vineyards, Templars and thunderstorms that we just avoided again.

We followed the 2011 Tour de France route for 50 miles and could still "Allez Thomas" etc all over the road.

We both had very tired thigh muscles today. The Pyrenees are just two days away now, so slightly apprehensive, but also excited.

But first we have to  cycle over the Black Mountains to Carcasonne tomorrow...

  1. Hi Mark/Chris,

Following your endeavour with great interest...and envy! Hey Mark, with all this calorie-burning your figure should be practically sylph-like!.....and the 'Grinder' will be just a breeze.
    Good luck with the Pyrennees....awesome!!

    Mike
