Days 9 and 10

Late now and pretty tired, so a short update. The past two days have been amazing but shattering. We climbed up amongst the volcanoes of the Massif Central, which means we have riding at between 1000 and 1500 metres.

As you  can imagine, the views have been awesome, as we have had 30+ degrees with no winds and blue skies.

Today we cycled 73 miles (115km) and crossed 11 major V shaped river valleys, each taking 30+ minutes to climb out of. We used over 6000 calories, so had an excuse to stop for two lunches.

The fundraising has been going badly. The French just don't seem to have charitable donations as a part of their culture, at least not to strangers on bikes.

Nearly 600 miles covered so far and just one more day before we have a rest day at our friend Dave's house.

My bike problem is resolved and Chris's back has improved, so all positive!

Ok... off to sleep now.

  1. Good news! You certainly deserve that day off! Things are picking up here, now that the hols are over. 1 hour TV show yesterday in Porto talking about Tiago and the ride and tomorrow we shall be on SIC.

I have launched stage 2 of the fundraising today, resending all emails to everyone who got the first round, plus a few more, remind them to give for Tiago.

Regards to Chris from a fellow back sufferer and enjoy the ride. I know the area it IT IS stunning (but high!!!!).

    Cheers

    Luis
