After our first week of mostly flatish rides, we started climbing towards the ancient volcanoes of Le Massif, and with that the energy changed in every way.
Both bikes developed problems, with my bottom bracket bearings failing so I had to nurse my bike throughout the day. We haven't seen a single bike shop for the entire ride, so no hope today either.
Chris's back gave way so he had to ride extremely carefully, so it meant we took ten hours to ride 57 miles today, so very slow, with lots of breaks. Luckily the weather was stunning so no complaints.
I know there is a bike shop in three days time, with two days of mountains before that, so hope the bearings hold.
Hi Mark and Chris
ReplyDeleteI have been following your blogs with great interest.
I do hope Chris's back improves and you and your bikes make it over the mountains.
You'll have to find a nice French girl to give you each a nice back (and bum) massage!
Wishing you both all the best from down under
