Chris Leaves Lands End

Congratulations to Chris who is underway on the UK leg, having left Lands End yesterday, and has the first two days under his belt, about 150 miles covered.  Lots of rain and hills so far. Nice one Chris!!

0835 Saturday 13th August, Land's End - 2,500 miles to go! An overcast start which soon turned into the first of many outbreaks of Cornish sunshine! First tea spot, Penzance, for a strong coffee and a nice chat with a local couple (hi if you're following!). Pressed on past a mist shrouded St Michael's Mount and then on to Falmouth. More 'sunshine' fell on me on the ferry to St Mawes so a quick sandwich had to suffice at lunch in order to continue cycling to generate some warmth. The afternoon continued with the now familiar Cornish undulations and a final tricky 'nibbler' on the approach to Fowey. The ride ended at The Old Ferry Inn where the sight of a Harvey's beer mat in the bar was a pleasant surprise. A good day overall with 76 miles completed, 5,500 calories burned and only 2,424 miles to go!
